Africa Code Week is a programme sponsored by Google and created by SAP Initiative, the Cape Town Science Centre (CTSC) and Galway Educational Centre. The Programme is  designed to prepare the future of Africa for the new Information Technology age by teaching young children coding and web development skills. Africa Code Week has been held in primary and secondary schools all over Africa and is designed to teach at least  500 young children ICT skills within a week and to teach tech skills to 250 female coders as a form of support for the Women in Tech initiative. Ibadan, Oyo State, was one of the cities that  hosted the programme in 2015 and this year also, the city will be hosting the second edition of the Africa Coding Week.


This year, Africa Code Week workshops will hold  in 6 schools in Ibadan for 3 days. From Tuesday 18th October 2016 to Thursday 20th October 2016. Volunteers will be visiting the designated secondary schools to help their students learn useful coding skills. The School visits will be divided into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon


On Tuesday the Morning session will hold  from  9.00am  to  11.30am  at  St. Catherine’s School, Aleshinloye, Dugbe Ibadan while the Tuesday Afternoon session will be from 12.30pm – 3.00pm  at  Aunty Joy Private School Ososami, Ring road, Ibadan.  On Wednesday Morning  from 9.00am  to 11.30am the Africa Code Week team will be at  Christ the King College, Winners’ Way, Basorun Ibadan and from there the team  will go to The Concord School, Mobil, Oluyole, Ibadan  for Wednesday’s Afternoon  session from 12.30pm to  3.00pm .


The Africa Code Week will come to an end on Thursday the 20th of October 2016 with a  Morning Session from 9.00am to 11.30am  at  LeadCity High School, Jericho Ibadan, while the final session will run on Thursday Afternoon  from  12.30pm – 3.00pm at  Qublah Schools, Aleshinloye, Ibadan
