Lukmon Fasasi Adedayo is a Nigerian Blogger, writer, content developer and the organizer of Nigeria Internet Business Conference(NIBC) which has seen two previous editions. This year’s edition of NIBC which is the 3rd edition will be taking place at First Bank Building, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan.
We were able to get through and ask him some few questions to set your expectations for the event. Read below:
How has the internet impacted the country’s economy?
The internet has really done its own in connecting people of vast ethnicity together, but Nigerians are yet to harness the benefits of the internet. This brought about our conference this year tagged “Harnessing from the benefits of internet”.Over a billion naira has been made on digital marketing alone and there are vast opportunities still waiting to be explored.
What is the current state of Internet adoption in the country?
When we talk about internet business, we are not referring to broadband, though Netpreneurs cannot survive without good broadband facilities. The current state of our broadband and data provider is rather unthinkable.Sometime you may subscribe to a network of let’s say 3 months and you realized it is zapped within the first month.I think the Government should own up to this.
What is NIBC all about?
NIBC is a gathering of internet business experts aimed at enlightening young minds about vast online businesses that exist, not Yahoo.
This is the 3rd edition taking place, how have the two previous editions gone?
It is been a success. We have hosted heavyweights internet business entrepreneurs and professionals in the past. The likes of Dr.Ope Banwo(Vice Chancellor, American Internet Business School), Azeez Makinde,(founder Naijaloaded), Stephen Akintayo,(Gtext media), Kingsley Ezeani,(CEO, InformationNigeria), Olayemi Ogunwole Honeypot,(TVC presenter), to mention but a few.
The first edition held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and we received participants across the country particularly Enugu and Owerri. This is an annual occurrence, and we also received some participants from Enugu last year in Unilag.
Who is NIBC 2017 targeted towards to?
NIBC is targeted at young Nigerians, but not strictly young, as everyone likes to earn and have their own businesses. For example one of our participants at the first edition Mr.Simon was 47 and he won a scholarship to attend American Internet Business School right from NIBC 2015.
