I don’t even know where to start talking about this phone. Well, I will start somewhere. My tablet got damaged so I a small phone in the meantime. I had planned to buy a cheap phone that wouldn’t exceed N15000 pending the time I would fix my tablet. When I got to the phone store, I was shown different kinds of phones but I didn’t like any of them. Some were just too expensive for my budget and some were not just pleasing to my eyes.
I was about leaving when one of the attendants called me back. She showed me another phone. This is the point I said: “mehn, this phone make sense o” you know what I mean na. I fell in love with the phone instantly because of the colour, and the size. I love big phones and I love white. I didn’t even bother about the fact that that was my first time of seeing the brand, Archos.
I gladly purchased the phone even though the price exceeded my budget. When I got home, I was so eager to check everything on it before charging. It was at this point I noticed the home and back touch were not working. “This isn’t happening.”
I rushed back to the phone store and narrated my surprise; the attendant said it’s probably because I didn’t insert a new memory card. When she said that, my anger increased by 95 percent but. I managed to keep quiet to avoid any scene. what has old memory card got to do with a phone touchscreen. Anyway, that’s not my business, just change the phone for me since it has a warranty. They reluctantly changed the phone and I was out of there.
One day, barely two months later, I brought out the phone from my bag to recharge my account and to my surprise, I saw that the screen had cracked. How come? The phone was just in my bag. I thought it was probably the screen guard on it. I gently removed the screen guard and saw the shock of my life. chai! The screen guard didn’t break but the phone screen itself had cracked. To make matters worse. I could not operate anything on the phone.
I angrily went to the phone store again to tell the attendant what happened. She told me my warranty does not cover that. Imagine, such is life. I asked her how much it would take to repair the screen and calibration. She gave me the bill and I reluctantly paid.
As if that was not enough, the phone cracked after three weeks again when it fell. At this point I was perplexed. I took it again to the attendant and paid for the repair.
After just a week and 3 days, at a dinner, an old friend saw me sitting down and she was very excited to see me. Before I could say a word, she sat on my laps where I had earlier put the phone. I felt the screen crack on my laps. I kept quiet as my friend hurriedly stood up. She felt so sorry, sincerely, I couldn’t say anything (to her).
At this point, I made up my mind to sell the phone. I, however, changed my mind when a friend of mine asked me to sell the phone to her. I didn’t want to sell it to her so I gave it to her instead. She was so grateful. 3 weeks after, she wanted to show me a funny picture and I was not in a good mood. At the verge of turning her down, I shifted the phone from the bed where she had placed it and it hit the edge of the bed. that broke the screen again. How can a phone screen break at the slightest touch as that?
Seriously, I don’t want to see this phone near me again, how can a phone look so beautiful, have great features but have a very flexible and bad quality screen? It was really disheartening. I cannot recommend Archos 59 Titanium to anyone. Though the phone is fine and the OS is great but what would a bad quality screen earn me? Trouble
Some people will agree with me on the screen quality of this phone and some will disagree with me. Either way, this is my personal experience with the first Archos product I ever purchased. Once bitten, twice shy. I don’t intend to try any of their products again because I don’t want to go crazy.
