Over 400 students of the University of Ibadan have been advised to withdraw from the University owing to the failure to the academic requirements.
In a meeting, where results of students are been approved, the Senate noticed the failure of some students. It was confirmed also that the affected students were majorly the ones admitted without the post UTME test during the 2016/2017 session.
In a brief with Journalists, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto made it known that the school has an academic standard and wouldn’t lower it at all even in the face of the financial situation, the institution is going through.
He continued by calling on Parents and Guardians to monitor their children to ensure that the affected students do not disguise and continue to collect money from them in the name of still being a student of the institution.
He added that the UI model of Post UTME screening has helped to separate men from boys which is why the institution still maintain her global recognition till date. It is a privilege to be a student at the great institution, University of Ibadan and there are minimum academic requirements, a student must meet at the end of the session and those who fault them will be asked to take their leave from the institution.
He concluded that the institution has been able to come up with her own screening exercise and it has proven that those screened do better than those not.
