The University of Ibadan, Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association at its 2018 reunion has donated N2million to support pharmacy training and development at the University of Ibadan.
Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Ibadan faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, Pharmacist Bioku Rahaman, making the donation said that alumni were given back to the Pharmacy Faculty since the University cannot meet all of its needs.
Rahaman, noting that the faculty’s alumni had also played a great role in the faculty regaining its accreditation, said its members would continue to be good role models and organise workshops and training for pharmacists in training at the institution.
At the 2018 reunion, which witnessed the inauguration of a 7-member Board of trustees for the association that included state head, Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), Oyo state, Mrs Kemi Alabi; Dr Olabanji Kelan and Dr Femi Rabiu, he said the disconnection between what young pharmacists experience in the class and the actual practice in the field, members of the alumni will also help bridge.
Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Toyin Odeku, who inaugurated the board, had charged them to support and uphold the constitution of the association while supporting its executive members.
Earlier, President, UI faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Association, Mr. Lanre Tiamiyu charged the alumni to contribute both mentally and financially towards making their Alma Mata a pride of all.
The association, which is five years old, he said still, require support to ensure that it could buy the faculty an 18-seater bus.
At the reunion, Professor Oludele Itiola; Pharmacist Bioku Rahaman; Dr. Olabanji Kelan, Mr. Adetoba Babatunde, and Mr. Aderemi Omotosho were among the six that were honoured with different awards.
