Workers at the University of Ibadan – UI, are psychologically unbalanced due to heavy indebtedness of bank loans and inability to take care of their homes, staff have cried out.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities – SSANU, and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions – NASU, University of Ibadan UI, chapter said at the weekend, that the shortfall in payment of salaries had affected school system, as workers were no longer focused.
The Chairman of SSANU, UI chapter, Comrade Wale Akinremi, who made this known, said that staff of the University of Ibadan had been suffering since December 2015.
Akinremi questioned why only workers of the institution were still experiencing hardship while, according to him, their counterparts in other universities who were in similar situation had resolved the issues.
The SSANU Chairman however, warned that workers would willingly embark on strike if their situation did not improve.
