Normalcy returned to the campus of the University of Ibadan, as the three non-teaching staff unions at the University of Ibadan on Monday suspended their two-week-old strike.
The three unions, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Non-Academic Staff Unions (NASU) had embarked on a warning strike from Friday 29 July to Friday 12 August, 2016 to protest shortfall in salary payment and the ownership of Staff School.
With the suspension of the strike, administrative activities started immediately as the students formally resumed for the second semester of the 2015/2016 session.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, while speaking with newsmen thanked the intervention of all the parties, individuals, bodies and groups, on the successful negotiations that saw to the end of the strike. He advised members of staff to always explore lawful means in their fight to better the welfare conditions of staff and students
