The National Board for Technical Education has approved the upgrading of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora to a polytechnic.
Prof. Gbemiga Adewale, the provost of the institution who announced the NBTE approval, said the institution would now run six additional programmes in addition to the existing ones.
Adewale in a statement issued through the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Opeyemi Olawore on Wednesday in Ibadan, commended the NBTE for the approval.
“Following the approval, the institution can now run National Diploma programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, Statistics, Horticultural Technology as well as Office Technology and Management,” he said.
Adewale revealed that the new status would further bring infrastructural and human capital development to the college through accesses to TETFUND for staff training and infrastructural facilities.
The bill for the amendment of the law establishing the college was amended and assented to by Governor Abiola Ajimobi in November 2014.
