12 Really Great Things About The Iconic Actor Baba Adebayo Faleti.

Baba Adebayo Faleti dropped the baton in the early hours of Sunday, 23 July 2017 at the University Teaching Hospital (UCH).

Here are 12 things to know about the late iconic actor:

  • He was born on 26 December 1930.
  • At a young age of 18, he set up a drama group “Oyo Youth Operatic Society”
  • He worked as a sign writer when his father returned him to Oyo State in 1949.
  • He was a pioneer teacher at Ife Odan, near Ejigbo.
  • In 1966, he went to the University of Dakar in Senegal and obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in French Language and Civilization.
  • In 1968, he graduated from the University of Ibadan Nigeria, with an honors degree in English
  • He was a translator; He translated the Nigerian National Anthem to the Yoruba Language. Also, Late Adebayo Faleti was responsible for translating the speeches of Military President Ibrahim Babangida and Ernest Shonekan, the head of National Interim Governor.
  • He was a writer. He wrote a Dictionary on the pronouncement of Yoruba names.
  • He was a poet, some of his poems include Ijamba Odo Oba, Alagbara Ile ati Alagabara Oko and many others.
  • He was a Journalist; In 1959, he was one of the pioneer workers at Western Nigerian Television (WNTV), now known as NTA Ibadan, as a film editor and a librarian. Later in 1971, he attended the Radio Netherlands Training Center in Hilversum, the Netherlands, and received a certificate in Television Production.
  • He has acted a couple of movies by MainFrame(of Tunde Kelani) as Saworoide(1999), Agogo Eewo(2002), Thunderbolt(2001) and other movies as Basorun Gaa(2004), Sawo-Sagberi (2005), Afonja 1&2(2002).
  • He was the former General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation.
