Nigeria is currently faced with myriads of challenges relating to the environment. In a bid to tackle these challenges in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, the OYOMESI Consortium, an initiative ably led by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has organised a competition to take place at the First Technical University, Lagos Ibadan Motor Way, Ibadan between 29th June – 1st July 2018.
The competition tagged OYOMESI HACKATHON: ” REUSE, REDUCE AND RECYCLE” allows the best ideas and works alongside great innovators from the community to tackle biggest environmental challenges.
The aim of the hackathon is to tackle Nigeria’s waste and environment challenges. Categories for the competition are Revenue collection and payments, Reporting of illegal dump sites and poor collection, Enumeration of communities and lastly Recycling.
The event starts 29th of June, by 6 pm with the pitching of ideas on how to tackle Nigeria’s waste and environment challenges by the competitors. The top 20 ideas pitched on the night will progress to the next stage which is the weekend hackathon on the 30th of June and 1st of July, 2018 in Ibadan, organised by the OYOMESI Consortium.
Top prizes to be won at the event is an investment of ₦2,000,000 by WestAfricaENRG into the best three ideas and the opportunity for a learning exchange with Pomelo Pay in London, UK.
