Techjam Ibadan was curated out of a passion to get the city to experience technology both in knowledge, concept and in practical demo. It turned out amazing as it held (as scheduled) on the 8th-9th of December, at the Nustreams Conference and Culture Center. If you were a part of the 2 day Tech Extravaganza, then you can testify to that, if not? Bummer!, But we got you. Here’s a quick recap:
The day started out with some chill music as the participants registered and the early birds got a Google pack containing some fancy things from Google & TinklingD. Mary Ajayi and Adebayo Adegbite were the amazing anchors, as they took over the stage.
The event started with Pastor Francis Madojemu’s Keynote Speech on “Technology: Uncovering the Opportunities” (This was delivered by Pastor Olumide Olalekan as he was in the UK and couldn’t make the event, well he sent us the pictures of him from the recently unveiled Amazon GO at the US.)
Oyinkansola Isola from Sorterbox took the 2nd keynote speech, and crushed the topic “The Future of Work: Technology”.She spoke about how technology is changing the way people work and why it is important to implement technology in the workplace, for a more efficient and smooth running.
We then had Mikairu Blessing (A member of the management team at Ibridge Hub), Oyedotun Ayoade from Agrinnova (The winner of the West Africa Agrihack hackathon), and Oyewole Kayode of Ventures Platform (who was skyped in from Abuja)talking about “The Role of Technology Hubs in Shaping Ibadan Technology Landscape”
Next was the Panel Session with Jide Bamidele from Spark Conect, Ayo Alex Alao from Jet Heights and Oluwamayowa Oshidero from TinklingD, talking about “The Role of Digital Agencies in Empowering and growing SMBs In Ibadan”.
Then next was the Demo, with Usman Abiola from CmapIT Hub taking participants on Drones, while we experienced Virtual Reality from the Google Cardboard, also Edward Madojemu talking about Digital Art and also a Demo on Fashion Technology by Antonia Olodun (The project manager of TechJam 2016).
We had the Breakout Sessions with the “Google Digital Skills for Business and the Hackathon “Build for my City”
With those amazing sessions, Day 1 was a wrap

More Demo with Olere from Olere Photography talking about Drones used in Photography.
Then next was the Hackathon participants pitching to the judges about the ideas they worked on the day before, with AgriTech coming out top and winning a 6 months free workspace at iBridge Hub as well as mentorship and Consultation with “Wennovation Hub”
