THE 2016 SUMMER OF CODE, IBADAN: CALL FOR REGISTRATION AND VOLUNTEERS
Recently, Co-Creation Hub in Lagos announced the expansion of this year’s Summer of Code; a 4-week summer programme to raise a new generation of digital makers. This expansion is from the usual city to four new cities in states like Abuja, Enugu, Osun and our own Oyo states. After successful edition in the past two years in Lagos, and with the upcoming launch of re:learn in Abuja, this is seem to be the most appropriate time for this to happen.
This fun and interactive programme by CC Hub has partnered iBrdge hub to host in Ibadan aimed to introduce children aged 5-18 years to learn new skills and tools to express their creativity during longest holiday in the academic calendar. Through the Summer of Code children learn to design games and animations using Scratch, design websites using HTML and CSS as well as get introduced to programming computer apps and electronics.
Here is a call for people that are passionate about technology and willing to create time to work with kids, educating and empowering the next generation. You can sign up to volunteer at the Summer of Code in a city near you. To sign up as a volunteer, kindly fill out this form here.
To parents and guardians, registration for the Summer of Code will open in all said states very soon. With 50 slots each registration is on a first come basis so hurry to get yours done as early enough.
