Shootings Stars Sports Club of Ibadan Coach Fatai Amoo has expressed his disappointment with the club’s form so far this season.
Amoo was speaking at a press conference after another disappointing 1-1 draw against Remo Stars FC of Sagamu, a result that means the Ibadan club have only managed two wins in the nine NPFL games so far and none in their last three games. They have also only gained 2 points from the 9 available. The club is also currently struggling in the relegation zone with nine points and in 17th place, one point from safety. They could even drop as low as 19th if both Sunshine Stars of Akure and FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi manage to win their Sunday games.
According to Amoo, the team played well and created a lot of chances, but they failed to convert any of them, and that was why they failed to win the game. However, he firmly believes that the team will bounce back from this result and that the team can win away games.
Amoo also pointed out part of the reason for the poor performance against Remo Stars was that the team was fatigued after playing two away games in (Katsina and Bauchi) within three days. He says “We cannot overemphasise the issues playing away games back to back but we have to work on ourselves and improve”
Amoo added that both the management and the players are not happy with the result (against Remo Stars) in particular and the club’s League form in general, but urged fans to continue to support the team, with the promise that the team will start picking up points as soon as possible.
3SC’S next NPFL game is against Rangers International FC of Enugu on Wednesday the 1st of March 2017 in Ibadan, and the team must win the game if the club is to get its season, which is threatening to fall apart, back on track.
