3SC football club of Ibadan was on Saturday held to a 1-1 draw in an NPFL 2016/2017 Matchweek 10 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, by visiting Remo Stars FC of Sagamu. The result was a fair result for the two sides as they are both struggling for form so far this season, although, the Ibadan side will feel they could have won the game, given that they were playing at home and Remo Stars were at the bottom of the league before the visit to 3SC.

The game looked balanced in the early stages but Shooting Stars soon began to dominate and to create some good chances. They finally made that dominance count, with Sunday Faleye scoring in the 35th minute to put the Oluyole Warlords on course for a third league win of the season as the first half ended 1-0 in the Ibadan team’s favour. The visitors, however, came back stronger in the 2nd half as  Oche Salefu thought he had equalized for Remo Stars in the 48th minute but his goal was controversially ruled out for a foul. Two minutes later, though, Victor Mbaoma got his 5th goal of the season to put Remo Stars back on level terms, with a shot that passed underneath 3SC goalkeeper Adamu. There was nothing any of both sides to do to break the deadlock and the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The result means Remo Stars have temporarily moved up one place from bottom to 19th pending the result from FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s home game today against league leaders Plateau United, while 3SC, who still have an outstanding game, have now gone three games without a win, and could drop to 19th place if Sunshine Stars get a result against Rivers United in Akure on Sunday.

On three NPFL matches were played on Saturday with the rest to come on Sunday. on Friday Rangers International’s title defence took another hit, as they lost to MFM FC for the first time in their history, the match ended 2-1. Akwa United temporarily jumped 9 places from 15th to 6th after they defeated Abia Warriors by 3 goals to 1.
