After the team’s 1-1 draw against Katsina United on Sunday, the players, and management of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, visited some Almajiri homes in Katsina state. The trip was part of their desire to contribute their quota to improving the lives of less privileged young children in the society as well as to show children how football can help better their lives. The visit was also meant to highlight the growing social problem that the Almajiri issue has become, especially in the northern part of the country.
A statement from the club’s media unit on the trip, which was shared on the club’s official twitter page states thus “We squeezed a time out with the Almajir kids in Katsina! Eight million now in the North”
The statement continued:
If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of doing something for somebody you will end up not doing nothing for nobody [sic] We are setting the pace already. We are Shooting Stars, thank you for supporting us #UpSooting
Among the officials of the club who went along with the players to visit the Almajiri kids was the Head Coach of the team, Fatai Amoo, as well as the Media Officer of the club, Jubril Arowolo.
The 3sc team are currently in Bauchi where they will face Wikki Tourists on Wednesday the 22nd of February 2017 in a rescheduled Nigerian Professional Football League encounter.
