Brouhaha Over Taxi Colour Change Leaves Commuters in Ibadan Stranded

Earlier this year, the Oyo state government issued a directive to commercial motor vehicles to change the colour of their taxi’s to conform with the colours of the state.

A fall out of this directive  left commuters in Ibadan stranded yesterday 11th September 2017, as there was a clamp down on commercial vehicles yet to change from the former white and blue stripes to the new yellow and wine to align with the traditional colour of the pace setter state.

Ibadan Insider correspondent Oluwaseyi Ogunyemi who moved around major places in Ibadan from Challenge to Dugbe, Iwo Road amongst other places noticed heavy presence of commuters struggling for the few available taxis who had conformed to the state governments’ directive.

This development left many commuters stranded as fares were also hiked by the drivers who had conformed to the directive took advantage of the existing milieu to earn some extra cash.

However, in a chat with a commercial taxi driver, he posited that there was confusion about the deadline given to effect the change of colour as there was a lawsuit against the change as the new colour clashes with the colour of commercial taxis in Edo State.  The authenticity of this information is yet to be verified as at the time of filing this report.

Ibadan Insider would keep tabs on the situation and keep its readers updated on latest developments.
