OLYMPICS: Nigeria’s Dream Team VI are through to Quarter Finals; set date with Brazil

Dream Team VI, Nigeria’s  U23 team are through to the quarter-finals of the men football event in the on-going 2016 Rio Olympics after a 1-0 win against Scandinavian side Sweden on Monday morning.

A 39th minute strike by Sadiq Umar sealed a spot for Samson Siasia’s boys in the next round, making it two wins for the Group B leaders ahead of Colombia.

The Dream Team VI started their Olympics campaign after an intial travel challenge that saw them arriving in Manaus City where they played their first game 7 hours before their opening game against Japan, which they won 5-4

Nigeria will likely face host nation, Brazil in the quarter finals as the Rogerio Micale tutored side sit in the second spot in group A with two points.

The u23 African champions will be aiming to achieve the feat of the victorious Dream Team, who won Africa’s and Nigeria’s first gold in the Olympics football event twenty years ago in Atlanta, USA
