@AirtelNigeria Launches 4G LTE in Ibadan

Let’s talk about the latest mobile technology in the city of Ibadan, sure, you have heard of 2G, 3G and 4G and to tell you of the recent one, 4G LTE.

First of all, the popular ‘G’ means Generation of mobile technology installed in phone and on cellular networks with the new ‘LTE” which is Long Term Evolution.

4G LTE is the fourth- long term evolution, there is a big difference between 4G LTE and other technologies which is mostly visible in the speed of upload; if you love to post videos or pictures, you will find out with 4G LTE, you get them done faster compared to others. $G LTE is ten times faster than the older 3G technology.

Airtel storms Ibadan with their latest 4G LTE on their cellular network; before now, there has been news that Airtel will roll out the 4G LTE but nothing happened until now.Alongside, Ibadan, the network has also launched their latest technology in other places like Lagos and Ogun.

@AirtelNigeria officially launched the |4Gthatworks| in Ibadan, yesterday,13th of February, 2018 with the presence of dignitaries which include, the M.D/CEO of Airtel, Segun Ogunsanya, Chief Commercial Officer, Ahmad, Mokhles, Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Communications, Ademola Adeleke, Chairman Nigerian Communication Commission, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo and also the appearance of Oluibadan of Ibadan, Saliu Adetunji.

The Event highlights include the giving out of five 4G enabled phones to 5Lucky people in Ibadan and also the presentation of cultural dance and music from one of the cultural groups in Ibadan. At the launch, The deputy governor of Oyo state, Chief Moses commented that Oyo state is known as a pacesetter in Nigeria and Airtel has continued the tradition by launching 4G first in the state.

Airtel is said to run on Band 3 (1800MHz) which is compatible with almost all 4G enabled smartphones,  the 4G has been tested in the city of Ibadan with a download speed of 28.45Mbps and upload speed 8.77Mbps although might vary with location too.

HOW DO I GET ACTIVE

Visit any of the Airtel offices in Ibadan with your current Airtel’s SIM and request for a SIM swap; after which the 4G will come up and you will be given a 4GB data to test run the 4G LTE service.

To be sure if your location can access the 4G LTE, you can do a manual search on your smartphone by scrolling to your Network operators and tap for search.
