Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan Head Coach Fatai Amoo was left looking visibly frustrated at the display of his boys in the 1-1 draw against Moutain of Fire Ministries Football Club (MFM FC) of Lagos in Ibadan yesterday.
3SC, who had gone behind due to MFM midfielder Sikiru Olatunbosun’s goal, squandered so many scoring chances, before finally drawing level through a 90th minute Adebayo Abayomi penalty to end the high-octane encounter a goal apiece. The fans, who turned out in large numbers, were understandably unhappy at the loss of two points at home especially as the team has enjoyed a winning run at the Lekan Salami stadium of late, but none was more frustrated the Fatai Amoo himself
Amoo, with the anger he felt visibly showing in his demeanour, had this to say after the game:
We know we should have won this game.We were unlucky for many chances we wasted! It is not a valid excuse But I can blame it on fatigue, playing three matches in 10 days could take it toll on any team.
The result against MFM means 3SC now have only one win in four games and have dropped further in the Nigerian Professional Football League, now finding themselves in 15th place with 4 points, 6 points behind leaders Plateau United. Their opponents, on the other hand, have climbed to third place in the NPFL log with 7 points three behind the leaders. The latest result also means the team must get a win against ABS FC of Ilorin who are nine places above them on the NPFL log in order not to fall too far behind the early leaders in the title race and risk getting their season derailed.
