FC Ifeanyi Ubah put up a superlative performance against Shooting Stars of Ibadan yesterday at the Adamasingba Stadium as held their hosts to a 2-2 draw. The pulsating encounter watched by a capacity crowd, including the Monarch of the ancient city, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Chief Saliu Adetunji and his wife, and the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, gave the fans a lot cheer from the two team.
Oluyole Warriors as sometimes called were 10 minutes away from stretching their run to three wins and finally easing their way out of the relegation troubles, but it was not meant to be as the Anambra Warriors rallied gallantly to earn a deserved one point on the road.
Ebitimi Agogo scored his second goal in two consecutive games for Gbenga Ogunbote’s men early in the game. Afolabi made it two for the Oluyole Warlords within 15 minutes from time.
A relentless effort by FC Ifeanyi Ubah was rewarded in the 80th minutes when a penalty was awarded after an infringement. Brazilian import, Medrano, made no mistake as he neatly converted the spot kick.
Onyebuchi Ajunwa equalised for the Anambra Warriors a minute later.
Thereafter, the Anambra Warriors, who before the game officially unveiled their newly signed players left the Adamasimgba stadium happy with the result which gave them their first point away from home in nine league matches.
The away draw has moved up the Anambra warriors whose target has always remained a ticket to play at the continental level.
Meanwhile, Rangers International have returned to the podium of the Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL), after an impressive Friday night football victory against visiting Warri Wolves at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.
