Due to the break down of the fire truck at Ibadan Airport, the facility has been closed to air travelers for safety reasons for about two weeks.
Flight resumed on Wednesday April 6,2016 to travelers after safety precautions have been put in place. In words of Mr Olufemi Awolade, the Airspace Manager of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Ibadan Airport said “when there is no fire cover,an Airport is not suppose to operate and incompliance with ICAO regulations, hence the Airport was closed.”
He also said that a fire truck was sent on Tuesday April 5,2016 by Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi which resulted in the re-opening of the Airport.
An official of ARIK said that flights had resumed at the Airport and the Airline had a scheduled flight expected to leave for Abuja by 5pm that Wednesday.
