CHIEFS PROMOTED BY THE OLUBADAN
The Olubadan of Ibadanland , Oba Saliu Adetunji, has promoted and installed some traditional chiefs from both the Balogun and Otun Olubadan chieftaincy title lines. The spokesman of the monarch, Mr Adeola Oloko, said this in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan.
The statement said the promotion was as a result of the vacancies that existed in the Balogun and Otun Olubadan lines. The vacancies were due to the coronation of Adetunji as the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland. Those who benefitted were High Chief Owolabi Olakunlehin, who moved from Otun Balogun to Balogun of Ibadanland and High Chief Olufemi Olaifa, who moved from Osi Balogun to Otun Balogun.
High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola also took a step from Asipa Balogun to Osi Balogun while High Chief Solomon Adabale moved from Ekerin Balogun to Ashipa Balogun. Others are Senior Chief Lateef Adebimpe, who was promoted from Abese Balogun to Ekerin Balogun while Senior Chief Hamidu Ajibade moved from Abese Olubadan to Eekarun Olubadan.
Senior Chief Samuel Falowo on the other hand, moved from Maye Balogun to Eekarun Balogun. Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadanland until March 4 when he was installed as the new Olubadan after the demise of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade. Odugade died on Jan. 19 at the age of 101.
The statement added that the Oluwo Labosinde Afobaje of Ibadan was on hand to decorate the newly promoted chiefs with the traditional “akoko” leaf. Those present at the event were high chiefs from the Otun line headed by Sen. Lekan Balogun. Also in attendance were the ‘Mogajis’ and the ‘Baales, ’ including Baale Bodija, Chief Rasheed Adesokan.
