Ex-Oyo deputy governor, Taofeek Arapaja, dumps PDP for APC
A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former ambassador to Jordan and his supporters joined his new party in his local government, Ibadan South East Local Government Area.
He was received by the lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina; APC State Secretary, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya and a former commissioner in the state, Alhaji Abideen Oladimeji.
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Ibadan South East Local Government, Alhaji Najeemdeen Abass, and party chairman in the council, Mr Kayode Arowolo stressed that the former Deputy Governor decided to join the Oyo APC because he can see the unity within the party. Arowolo and Najeemdeen further assured party supporters that the APC is fully prepared for the forthcoming local government election as well as the 2019 elections.
It would be recalled that Arapaja’s former boss, ex-Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala also defected to the All Progressives Congress in November 2016.
In a related development the All Progressives Congress in Egbeda local government also hosted decampees from PDP & Labour Party into the party. The Caretaker Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Ademola Adewuyi, declared that the decision of the decampees to join the APC is a testament to the unity of the party and the good work the party is doing in Oyo state. Hon. Adewuyi further promised that the party will continue to do more to make sure that the people of Egbeda Local Government continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy, as long as the people continue to give the APC their unflinching support
