NPFL: 3SC Thrash Pillars 4-0 In Ibadan, Rivers United Register Home Win To Go Joint Top

Former champions Kano Pillars suffered a dent to their title hopes after suffering  a 4-0 defeat at the hands of hosts Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday.

The Gbenga Ogunbote side raced into a 2 goal lead through strikes from Ifegwu Ojukwu  and  Ibrahim Ajani‎. Sunday Adetunji added a brace after the interval, his 9th and 10th goals of the current NPFL season. It was a deserved home win for the Ibadan club and a measure of revenge for the Oluyole Warriors after they were humiliated by the four-time Nigeria champions in the first round of the season. Title hopefuls Rivers United have gone joint top after a straightforward 2-0 win over Plateau United courtesy goals from a Bernard

In other NPFL Matchday 33 games, Title hopefuls Rivers United went  joint top of the league with Wikki Tourists after a straightforward 2-0 win over Plateau United with goals from a Bernard Ovoke penalty and Daniel Israel strike.

League leaders Wikki Tourists suffered a dent to their title challenge with a demoralising 1-0 defeat to hosts FC IfeanyiUbah due to Jimoh Oni’s 70th minute strike‎. Nasarawa United also saw off  title hopefuls Enugu Rangers 1-0 as Philip Azango scored the only goal of the game to hand his side the win. Niger Tornadoes strengthen their resolve to beat the drop with a 2-0 win over Continental challengers Lobi stars courtesy goals from Kunle Issa and a Solomon Owello penalty.

Lagos club Ikorodu United are running out of time in the bid to avoid relegation as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors El-Kanemi Warriors. Samuel Matthias was on target for the Maiduguri-based outfit while Olasupo Adeyemi got a late equalizer for the home side. The relegation battle between MFM FC and Abia Warriors was delayed by a day following heavy rain in Lagos which made the pitch at the Agege Stadium unplayable.
