Today by 4:00 pm at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan will square up against Mountain of Fire Ministries Football Club (MFM FC) on Matchday 4 of the 2016/2017 Nigerian Professional Football League.
The Ibadan side, which won the corresponding fixture last season, 3-0 will look to achieve a similar result today. The team will also try to get a win today, to get their NPFL season back on track after two losses to Sunshine Stars FC of Akure and Kano Pillars respectively saw them drop to 12th in the league. Their Lagos-based opponents, who have started brightly in the league with two wins in three games and an emphatic 4-0 win over Lobi Stars FC of Markudi on matchday 3, will be looking for revenge against the side they lost to both home and away last season.
The game, one of the very first Southwest derbies in the current NPFL season, promises to be an intense affair. However, both sides will also be looking to avoid the ugly scenes at the Agege Township Stadium, home of MFM FC, last season, where the match between the two teams was disrupted after 3SC had taken a 1-0 lead. 3SC, who will be without captain Seun Akinyemi, who is ruled out of the game on account of a cut he sustained on his face in the 1-2 loss to Kano Pillars on Sunday, will have to pay particular attention to MFM FC’s Stephen Odey who scored a hattrick in the 4-0 nil thrashing of Lobi Stars. 3SC goalkeeper Charles Tambe will also be looking to reprise the fine performance he delivered against Kano Pillars on Sunday in order to keep the Olukoya Boys out.
Meanwhile, 3SC Head Coach Fatai Amoo has told his boys that they have to work hard to have a chance of getting a win against MFM today. He promised that the team will not underrate their opponents as He and his boys are fully aware that The Olukoya Boy’s 4 – 0 win against Lobi Stars will give them a boost for today’s game.
