Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders, Enugu Rangers, surprisingly dropped points at home against struggling 3SC on Sunday while Warri Wolves lost to Rivers United.
It was expected that Rangers would see off 3SC despite missing two of their influential players, Bobby Clement and Obinna Nwobodo, owing to injury and illness, and not even faithful of the Ibadan believed their team could earn a 1-1 draw in Enugu.
The Ibadan club without head coach, Kadiri Ikhana, who is excused due to illness, did well in the first 45 minutes to fend off Rangers and create their own scoring chances with Friday Christopher barking instructions from the sidelines.
The breakthrough did not come for Rangers until the 80th minute when Chisom Egbuchulam scored from the spot after he was felled in the box.
Rangers were made to pay late in the game when Tope Orelope levelled matters from the spot after Etim Matthew handled the ball in his goal area and the referee awarded 3SC a penalty. The point still keeps Rangers in top spot with 28 points while 3SC are now fourth from bottom.
