The management of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) are poised to name a new coach within the week.
Friday Christopher, the Ibadan landlords’ caretaker coach, resigned on Wednesday. Kadiri Ikhana, the former Enyimba coach, had earlier left the Oluyole Warriors deep into the first stage of the ongoing top-flight.
An official of the side, Jubril Arowolo, said the side are working round the clock to get a replacement to guide the side in the latter part of the league.
“The management of 3SC will name the new coach before the end of the week. “We have accepted the resignation of caretaker coach, Friday Christopher, and we have wished him well in his new challenges.
Speaking further “The second stage of the league calls for more work and seriousness, so we want to name a coach who will be happy with the job as well as give us the desired results,” said Arowolo to supersport.com.
Arowolo, however, could not confirm whether the Ibadan outfit will be going after their former coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, who on Wednesday resigned his appointment with Giwa FC. “I don’t have information to that effect but in the next two or three days the picture will be firm as to who takes over at 3SC,” said Arowolo.
The Ibadan landlords are 18th on the league log on 17 points at the end of first-term hostilities.
